Azusa brush fire burns 43 acres and threatens homes
A brush fire in the Azusa area of Los Angeles County burned approximately 43 acres on Thursday, prompting evacuation orders and warnings for nearby residents. The blaze, which began near San Gabriel Canyon Road and Mirador Drive, grew rapidly under red flag warnings issued by the National Weather Service due to critical fire danger and Santa Ana winds.
Los Angeles County and Angeles National Forest crews responded to the incident, utilizing helicopters to drop water from a nearby reservoir. By late afternoon, containment reached 31%. While some structures were threatened, the evacuation order was downgraded to a warning as firefighters gained control of the blaze. An evacuation center was established at the Memorial Park Recreation Center in Azusa.
