Azzaria Charlie Boney sentenced for armed Inverell home invasion
Azzaria Charlie Boney, 22, has been sentenced in Armidale District Court for his role in an armed home invasion in Inverell in February 2023. Boney was charged with breaking and entering in company and causing wounding.
During the incident, Boney and two other masked individuals entered a residence. Boney admitted to striking a man, who was watching television at the time, three times with the stock of a pistol. While Boney was armed with a machete and a pistol, the two other offenders involved have not yet been identified. One co-offender was reportedly armed with an aluminium baseball bat.
Judge Sarah Hopkins noted that Boney was under the influence of ice, suffering from sleep deprivation, and dealing with untreated mental health concerns at the time of the crime. Boney, who initially denied involvement, later cooperated with police to admit his role, expressing a desire to “get everything off his chest” and make a fresh start.
