Azzi Fudd to miss remainder of WNBA season due to knee injury

Dallas Wings rookie guard Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on her right knee. The 2026 No. 1 overall draft pick has been sidelined by soreness since early August.

Fudd has averaged 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 30 games. Head coach Jose Fernandez noted her significant defensive value, specifically her ability to guard elite perimeter players. The injury comes at a critical time for the Wings, who hold a 20-16 record and are positioned near the edge of the postseason picture.

Following the announcement, market indicators showed a slight shift in championship odds, with the New York Liberty's chances increasing from 8% to 8.5%. Fudd expressed through social media that she is focused on rehabilitation and returning to the court stronger.
