Karol Nawrocki receives support from Donald Trump amid G20 controversy

Donald Trump has issued a strong message of support for Polish President Karol Nawrocki, describing him as a ‘wonderful warrior’ and a ‘strong man.’ Trump characterized Nawrocki’s election victory as one of the most significant political events in Europe in the last 50 years.

As the G20 summit approaches in Miami this December, hosted by President Trump, controversy has arisen regarding the invitation of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski criticized the decision to invite Putin, calling it a ‘mistake by Trump.’

Kwaśniewski advised Nawrocki to attend the summit to represent Polish interests but urged him to maintain a firm diplomatic distance, stating, ‘If I were in Nawrocki’s place, I would go to the G20. But I would not shake Putin’s hand.’ Kwaśniewski also reflected on his past interactions with Putin, noting that the Russian leader’s ambitions to rebuild a ‘great Russia’ have evolved into an obsession.
