B. C. Lions release defensive back Josh Hagerty

The B. C. Lions have released Canadian defensive back Josh Hagerty following an internal review of his conduct. The decision follows a two-game suspension issued by the CFL on September 17.

The suspension stemmed from an incident during a game against the Montreal Alouettes on September 12, where Hagerty struck Montreal running back Liam Talbot. Talbot sustained a groin injury during the encounter that required surgery, and he is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

B. C. Lions general manager Ryan Rigmaiden stated that the club met with Hagerty and his representatives to discuss the incident and its consequences. Rigmaiden noted that Hagerty’s actions were “inconsistent with the standards expected of a B. C. Lion” and that the release was made in the best interests of the organization.
