B. S. Yediyurappa announces BJP-JD(S) alliance for Karnataka elections

Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa has announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] will contest all upcoming elections in Karnataka as allies. Speaking at a press conference in Kalaburagi during the nomination filing of BJP candidate Shashi Namoshi, Yediyurappa expressed confidence that this alliance will secure a majority and return to power in the 2028 assembly elections.

Yediyurappa criticized the current Congress government, alleging administrative failures, corruption in the education sector, and unfulfilled promises regarding farmer assistance. He dismissed Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar’s claims of continued Congress rule as delusions, asserting that voters are seeking change.

Regarding the question of who would serve as Chief Minister under a potential BJP-JD(S) coalition, Yediyurappa stated that the decision would be made by the alliance leaders after the elections. He emphasized that the immediate focus remains on winning the upcoming contests to teach the current government a lesson.
