B2B sales trends emphasize digital self-service and communication quality

B2B purchasing behaviors are shifting toward digital self-service and AI-driven research. According to Gartner data, 67 percent of B2B buyers prefer making decisions without direct sales contact, while 70 percent favor a fully digital self-service experience. Additionally, 45 percent of B2B buyers have used generative AI for product and provider research during recent purchase processes.

In the realm of digital sales interactions, technical communication quality plays a critical role in building trust. While nearly three-quarters of B2B sales interactions now occur via digital channels, companies often overlook the impact of video call quality on conversion rates. A 2025 study published in Nature by researchers from Cornell University and Columbia University found that even brief audio or video interruptions can cause trust in a conversation to drop from 77 percent to 61 percent.
