Ba, Suva, Labasa, and Rewa FC win opening matches in Battle of the Giants

The 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants football tournament commenced at Four R Stadium in Ba, Fiji, with several teams securing opening victories.

In Group A, Global Care Suva FC defeated Blue Gas Navua FC 3–1. Suva took control of the match following a red card issued to Navua captain Thomas Dunn in the 52nd minute. Defending champions Extra Supermarket Labasa FC also won their Group A fixture, edging Nasinu FC 1–0 with a goal from Joseph Naime.

In Group B, Stratum/PPCL Rewa FC secured a 2–0 win over Khelvin Engineering Lautoka FC, with goals from Merrill Nand and Josaia Sela. The hosts, Dayal’s Steel Ba FC, completed the opening day with a 1–0 victory against Tagimoucia Nadi FC, courtesy of a 13th-minute strike by John Orobulu.

Ba FC enters the tournament as a top contender, having previously secured the BiC Fiji FACT and Extra Premier League titles this season.
