Baba Mahakal ashrit ceremony draws thousands of devotees to Ujjain temple

On Monday, July 27, the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain held the traditional ashrit arati for Baba Mahakal. After a ceremonial opening of the deity's doors with drums and bells, the idol was bathed with Panchamrit made from milk, yogurt, ghee, sugar and fruit juices, and offered dry fruits, fresh fruit and sweets. The ritual was followed by a ash (ash) arati, during which the idol was adorned with a silver crown, rudraksha necklace, silver garlands and flower garlands.

A large crowd of devotees gathered early overnight, forming long lines to have a glimpse of the deity. Police and security personnel were deployed in significant numbers to manage the congregation and maintain order around the temple complex.
