Babajide Sanwo-Olu urges increased financial literacy in Nigeria

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) to expand financial literacy and increase public participation in Nigeria’s capital market. During a meeting with CIS officials, the Governor emphasized that while the capital market has seen recent growth, many Nigerians remain unaware of investment opportunities for wealth creation and long-term financial planning.

Sanwo-Olu expressed support for the Institute’s efforts to establish a N5 billion endowment fund dedicated to professional training and capacity development within the sector. He pledged his administration’s commitment to initiatives that improve professional expertise and promote economic activities that drive job creation and investment in Lagos.

The Governor also congratulated Dr. Fiona Ahimie on her appointment as the first female president of the CIS, describing her leadership as a significant milestone for the professional body.
