Pakistan bowlers dominate England on opening day of Lord's Test

The opening day of the second Test between England and Pakistan at Lord’s was heavily impacted by rain and bad light. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that paid immediate dividends as their pace attack dismantled the English top order. Mohammad Abbas was the standout performer, taking four wickets for 56 runs, while Mohammad Ali claimed three. England’s early innings was precarious, falling to 80-4 at lunch after the dismissals of Emilio Gay, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, and Harry Brook.

England managed to stabilize their innings through resilient half-centuries from Jordan Cox (55) and Jamie Smith (61). A 67-run partnership for the sixth wicket helped the hosts reach 248-9 by the time play was halted due to poor light. Gus Atkinson remained unbeaten on 34.

Off the field, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a formal complaint against Sky Sports for broadcasting an interview with the sons of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan during the lunch break. The PCB had reportedly considered a protest by withholding players from the field but ultimately proceeded with play following discussions with officials.
