Babatunde Fashola Praises Africa Youth Table Tennis and Urges Greater Sports Investment

Former Lagos State governor and Nigeria’s ex‑Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, attended the final of the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Cup at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana. He highlighted the tournament as a vivid showcase of Africa’s emerging table‑tennis talent and called on policymakers to invest boldly in grassroots sports, noting the continent’s young population and the global trillion‑dollar sports industry.

Fashola, after which the competition is named, commended the leadership of the African Table Tennis Federation, led by President Wahid Oshodi, and urged that similar support be extended to other sports to help lift Africa’s fortunes.
