Babeș-Bolyai University leads European AI education consortium

Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj-Napoca is leading the EQUAL-AI European consortium, a project designed to align artificial intelligence education with the evolving needs of the industrial sector.

Funded through the Erasmus+ ‘Innovation Alliances’ program, the initiative involves a consortium from seven European countries. It brings together universities, vocational education providers, companies, investors, and civil society organizations to create integrated learning and innovation hubs. These hubs aim to bridge the gap between education and industry by allowing participants to move from skill acquisition to real-world application, including prototype development and entrepreneurial ventures.

The project will focus on developing AI curricula and certifications co-created with industry partners. Participants will gain practical experience using laboratories, robotics environments, AI testing infrastructures, GPU computing resources, and data platforms. A key objective is to ensure the responsible, inclusive, and innovative adoption of AI technologies across European society and industry.
