Babeijoda village showcases tribal art and heritage in Odisha
Babeijoda, a tribal village located in the Bisoi block of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, has become notable for its integration of folk art and community cleanliness. The village features mud houses adorned with vibrant traditional patterns and designs, creating an atmosphere similar to an open-air art gallery.
The community maintains high standards of cleanliness through collective responsibility, utilizing dustbins and household toilets to manage waste and reduce open defecation.
During the annual Pata Parba festival, the village's cultural heritage is prominently displayed. Residents, particularly women and young girls, prepare natural pigments by collecting various shades of soil from local forests and rivers. These colors are used to paint intricate designs on house walls. The festival also includes traditional dance competitions featuring customary attire, serving as a vital method for preserving tribal identity and cultural practices.
