Baby Gang acquitted of incitement and defamation in Milan

The Milan Court has acquitted Italian trapper Baby Gang, born Zaccaria Mouhib, of charges involving defamation and incitement to commit a crime. The ruling concludes a legal matter stemming from a 2022 incident where the 25-year-old artist insulted a journalist on social media and published her phone number, encouraging followers to harass her.

The conflict originated from a report on the television program ‘Fuori dal coro’ regarding a robbery in Vignate. Mouhib’s defense argued that the broadcast was defamatory because it omitted the fact that he had been released from custody and acquitted of the robbery charge. While acquitted of incitement and defamation, Mouhib was ordered to pay a fine for the unlawful processing of personal data.

The verdict has drawn political criticism. Riccardo De Corato, a deputy and former deputy mayor of Milan, described the acquittal as the result of a ‘too cautious and goodist judgment,’ noting that the artist had consistently insulted the professional online before releasing her contact information.
