Baby Shark Boy to debut as K-pop singer with new single

Park Geon-roung, the child performer known as ‘Baby Shark Boy’ from the YouTube video ‘Baby Shark Dance’, is set to make his K-pop debut on August 20. The video, released in 2016, has amassed over 17.2 billion views and held the top spot on YouTube for 69 consecutive months.

The Pinkfong Company announced that Park will release his first digital single, titled ‘WAVE’. The Korean-language track features lyrics co-written by Park and includes a collaboration with Joohoney of the K-pop group Monsta X.

While the move represents an effort by the Kosdaq-listed Pinkfong Company to expand the Baby Shark brand into the K-pop market, representatives stated this is a one-off project rather than a typical idol debut. Future activities for Park will be determined following the single's release.
