BabyCenter predicts 2027 naming trends driven by pop culture

BabyCenter has released its annual report on baby naming trends, utilizing real-time data from over 350,000 registered parents to predict shifts heading into 2027. While Noah and Olivia maintain their positions as the top names for boys and girls respectively, several significant shifts are emerging.

For girls, Eliana has seen a rapid ascent, moving from No. 14 in 2024 to No. 2. The letter ‘E’ is currently a dominant trend for girls, accounting for 15% of the top 100 names. Notable rises include Elsie, Evangeline, and Esme. Magnolia is the only new entry in the top girls' list.

For boys, the letter ‘J’ leads with 14% of the top 100 names. Josiah and Jeremiah have shown significant upward momentum. New entries for boys include Stetson, Archer, and Milo, while Dean has returned to the top 100 for the first time since the mid-20th century.

Pop culture continues to drive naming choices. Characters from Prime Video’s ‘Off Campus’—such as Garrett, Allie, Beau, and Jules—are rising in popularity. Additionally, the popularity of hockey-themed dramas like ‘Heated Rivalry’ is influencing names such as Ilya.
