Bac Ninh Province Road 293 Project Delayed Over Land Compensation Issues

The provincial road 293 extension in Bac Ninh, spanning 8.7 km and costing over VND 791.4 billion, has faced significant delays. While the Lục Nam River bridge segment is on schedule, the three road‑construction packages are each about two months behind due to unresolved land‑compensation disputes with two households.

Project manager Đoàn Thanh Quyền noted that the bridge, started on 19 May 2025, is expected to open for technical traffic on 31 December, keeping that portion on track for a Q2 2027 overall completion. However, the stalled road sections have pushed the overall timeline back, with contractors requesting a temporary halt until local authorities resolve the compensation claims. The delays have also caused cost overruns as prices have risen since the contracts were awarded.

Efforts are underway to coordinate with local officials to accelerate land‑acquisition processes and avoid further setbacks, aiming to meet the province’s target completion date.
