Bac Ninh’s elite Ngô Sĩ Liên high school records unprecedented 9.38 admission score
The Bac Ninh Department of Education announced that Ngô Sĩ Liên High School, traditionally one of the province’s top schools, set a record low cutoff of 9.38 points (out of 30) for the 2026‑2027 tenth‑grade intake. The unusually low threshold resulted from an oversupply of applicants: the school was allocated 585 places but only 559 candidates remained after more than 200 high‑scoring students chose specialised schools in the region. With no second‑choice applicants, the school admitted all remaining first‑choice candidates, pulling the minimum score down to 9.38, while the average score of admitted students stayed around 24 points. Officials emphasized that this situation is an isolated technical outcome of the admission process and does not compromise the school’s overall quality, which consistently reports high university admission rates.
