Bach Hoa Xanh expands rapidly with 875 new stores in Vietnam
Bach Hoa Xanh, a food retail chain owned by Mobile World Investment Group (MWG), has significantly expanded its footprint in Vietnam, opening 875 new stores since the beginning of the year. This equates to an average of four new store openings per day. The chain now operates a total of 3,434 stores, following an increase of 243 locations since late June.
The expansion strategy involves a balanced distribution, with approximately 50% of new stores located in Northern and Central Vietnam and the remaining 50% in the South. This rapid growth in the North places Bach Hoa Xanh in direct competition with WinCommerce, a member of Masan Group, which traditionally dominates that region.
Masan Group CEO Danny Le noted that while Bach Hoa Xanh possesses a competitive strategy regarding fresh produce, the growing market can accommodate both major players, similar to the dual-leader models seen with Walmart and Costco in the US. Bach Hoa Xanh is expected to potentially exceed 1,000 new store openings this year, with recent locations already reporting positive operating profits.
