Bachmann Prize jury undergoes major restructuring

The Ingeborg Bachmann Prize jury is undergoing a significant restructuring. Following the previously announced departure of jury chair Klaus Kastberger, several other members have confirmed they will step down.

Brigitte Schwens-Harrant, Mara Delius, and Philipp Tingler have all announced their intention to leave the jury, meaning they will no longer participate in the 2027 competition. Schwens-Harrant, who served for seven years, expressed a desire for the competition to remain independent and resist commercial or PR pressures.

Insa Wilke, who has served on the jury for several years, is set to succeed Kastberger as the new jury chair for the 2027 literary event in Klagenfurt.
