Bachmus Coastal Marathon attracts over 4,500 entries in Walvis Bay
The annual Bachmus Coastal Marathon in Walvis Bay recorded over 4,500 entries across various categories, including the 42.2km marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km, and 5km runs. Organizers noted significant growth in participation compared to the previous year, attracting international runners from countries such as Botswana, South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.
In the men’s open 10km category, Matias Simon secured first place with a time of 30:14. Ivonne Shelikita won the women’s veteran category in 37:28. In the junior 10km category, Titus Endjambi from Dagbreek Resource School took first place.
The event serves as both a tourism driver for the Walvis Bay community and a fundraiser for the Bachmus Bright Future Foundation, which supports youth sports development and community initiatives for underprivileged young people.
