Bacio wins Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York

The American-trained colt Bacio secured a notable victory in the Group 1 Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes at York. Ridden by Juan Hernandez and trained by Wesley Ward, the three-year-old son of Maclean’s Music led from the start and maintained a commanding lead to win by one and three-quarters lengths. Bacio, owned by Myracehorse, Gladwell, Dailey, and Dejablu, finished ahead of Starlust and Rumpstar.

Technical analysis of the performance highlighted Bacio’s exceptional stride frequency, which was approximately 6.6 per cent higher than the expected average for a winner of this race. Despite having the shortest average stride length in the field, the colt’s ability to move his feet rapidly on a soft surface allowed him to distance himself from the competition early in the sprint.
