Back Market partners with Uswitch to offer refurbished phones

Uswitch has partnered with Back Market to integrate refurbished smartphones into its UK mobile comparison platform. This partnership allows consumers to compare refurbished devices from Back Market alongside existing supplier Reboxed.

To address inconsistent product descriptions in the refurbished market, Uswitch has introduced a standardized A, B, and C grading system. Grade A devices are required to function like new and maintain a battery health of at least 90 per cent. Grade B devices show signs of use, while Grade C devices may have visible wear. The system evaluates cosmetic condition, battery health, and functional testing, while also checking devices against lost and stolen registers.

The collaboration arrives as demand for refurbished technology grows due to rising prices for new handsets. Uswitch reports that UK phone prices could increase by up to eight per cent this year, while refurbished sales saw a four per cent year-on-year increase in the first quarter of 2026.
