Poland: ZUS urges parents to apply for 300 PLN school benefit

Dobry Start 300 plus school supplies ZUS social benefits

The Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy are urging parents to submit applications for the ‘Dobry Start’ (Good Start) program, commonly known as ‘300 plus’. To guarantee that the 300 PLN benefit for school supplies is paid out by September 30, applications must be submitted by the end of August.

The benefit is available for each student up to the age of 20, or up to 24 for students with a certified disability. It is not available for students in ‘zerówka’ (pre-school year) or university students. The benefit is provided regardless of family income.

Applications must be submitted electronically via the mZUS app, the eZUS portal, electronic banking, or the Emp@tia portal. As of mid-August, ZUS has already processed millions of applications and disbursed hundreds of millions of PLN across various regions in Poland. Experts note that the actual cost of school supplies is rising, often exceeding the 300 PLN benefit.
