Back to the Future official certification exam announced for Spring 2027

An official “Back to the Future” certification exam is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2027. The announcement was made on October 21, a date recognized by fans as “Back to the Future Day,” marking the day the protagonist Marty McFly travels to the future.

The exam is designed to test the depth of fans' knowledge regarding the science fiction film series, covering iconic scenes, memorable dialogue, and character episodes. The organizers have indicated that questions will range from general knowledge to highly specialized topics for dedicated enthusiasts.

Successful examinees will be eligible for various benefits, including the opportunity to purchase exclusive original merchandise. Applications are expected to open in mid-December 2026 through the “Kentei, Uketsuketemasu” portal operated by Nippan Segmo Co., Ltd.
