Backroads Beastro opens at Greenbank Farm

Kate Day, a classically trained French chef, has opened Backroads Beastro at Greenbank Farm. The restaurant, which debuted on August 3, occupies the former Old Spots Bistro space.

Day serves as the sole chef, preparing French-inspired dishes such as steak frites and duck confit tacos using fresh, local ingredients, while her husband manages the front of the house. The bistro’s name is a play on the nearby farm animals and dog park, as well as Day’s self-description as a ‘beast in the kitchen.’

The interior features reclaimed and reused materials, including old-growth timber from the island used for the bar and shelving. Day expressed a desire to maintain an intimate atmosphere where community members can connect.
