Backrooms horror film exceeds $357 million globally, Spain gets extended edition

A24’s horror film *Backrooms* has surpassed $357 million in worldwide box‑office receipts, becoming the studio’s highest‑grossing title. The $10 million‑budget movie set new records in several markets, including approximately $15 million in China and top‑grossing performances in France, Thailand, Russia and Poland.

An extended cut titled *Backrooms: Liquidación total* opens in Spanish cinemas on 10 July, adding 16 minutes of new footage for a total runtime of 126 minutes. The release aims to draw both new viewers and fans of the original, while the film’s success continues to fuel plans for a sequel anthology series.
