Backrooms horror film set for June 2026 release

A24 will release the horror movie "Backrooms" in early June 2026. The film adapts the viral internet creepypasta and is directed by 20‑year‑old Kane Parsons, making him the studio’s youngest signed director. It stars Renate Reinsve as therapist Dr. Mary Kline and Chiwetel Ejiofor as architect Clark, whose trailer line reads, “I’ve found something… It’s huge in there. Just keep going, and keep going… All those rooms.”

The picture opens in UK cinemas at the end of May, with a wider European rollout on 5 June, including Spain, France and Germany. In an interview, Ejiofor said he felt no pressure about the project and was drawn to the “fascinating world” of the story.
