Backrooms horror film to debut on HBO Max in September

The horror film ‘Backrooms’, produced by A24, is set to make its streaming debut on HBO Max in the United States on September 25, followed by a linear television premiere on HBO on September 26.

Directed by 19-year-old Kane Parsons, the film is based on a viral internet series. It achieved significant box office success, earning $81 million domestically during its opening weekend on a $10 million budget. Parsons holds the distinction of being the youngest director to helm a number-one film at the global box office.

The story stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Clark, a furniture store owner who discovers an anomalous tear in his basement that leads to a subterranean, physics-defying maze. The ensemble cast also includes Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.
