Bağcılar cat dies after Doberman attack
A cat named ‘Bambi’, which was cared for by local residents in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul, has died following an attack by a Doberman dog. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 20, around 10:30 PM in the Merkez neighborhood.
Security footage captured the moment the dog attacked the cat in front of a local business. Bystanders and the shop owner, Muhittin Çavdar, attempted to intervene using sticks to pull the cat from the dog’s mouth. Although the cat was eventually rescued and rushed to a veterinarian, it succumbed to internal bleeding and injuries sustained during the attack.
Local business owner Muhittin Çavdar criticized the dog owner for failing to use a muzzle in a public area, stating, ‘The dog is not guilty; the owner is guilty.’ He emphasized that the lack of responsibility from the owner led to the tragedy.
