Bacău hosts commemoration for Great Union and WWI heroes

An anniversary event was held at the Bacău Military Circle to honor the generation that contributed to the Great Union of Romania and to commemorate the sacrifices made during World War I.

Organized by the Iulian Antonescu Museum Complex in Bacău and the Union of Armenians in Romania – Bacău Branch, the event included partnerships with the National Military Museum King Ferdinand I (Constanța Branch), the Bacău Garrison, and support from the Bacău County Council. The program featured conferences and dialogues exploring the historical and literary reflections of the Great War.

Presentations included discussions on the Kingdom of Romania’s transition from neutrality to war, specific military episodes such as Turtucaia and Oituz, and the portrayal of war in interwar literature by authors such as Ioan Missir, Liviu Rebreanu, Camil Petrescu, and Cezar Petrescu. The event aimed to bridge historical documentation with literary creation to preserve the collective memory of the conflict within Romanian cultural heritage.
