Bacău man killed by collapsing electricity pole

A 60-year-old retired bus driver died near Bacău after being struck by a concrete electricity pole. The incident occurred while the man was working with neighbors to cut down a tree in front of his courtyard.

During the process, the tree fell onto power lines, which caused the pole—originally installed in 1987—to detach from the ground and collapse onto the victim. While one neighbor was injured in the accident, the victim died instantly.

Local residents noted that the pole appeared to have cracks and was already leaning. The mayor of Bârsănești, Vlad Grigore, confirmed that the local administration had previously submitted requests regarding leaning poles and network issues, though many remained unresolved.
