Bacău rehabilitates civil protection shelters for 300 people

The first civil protection shelters in Bacău have been rehabilitated and are now operational. Funded through a civil protection tax introduced earlier this year, the project has completed work on four locations, including sites on Mioriței Street and Letea Street. These facilities can accommodate over 300 people.

The renovations included installing air filtration systems, electrical and lighting systems, sanitary facilities, and emergency exits to ensure the spaces are effective for emergency use. Mayor Lucian-Daniel Stanciu-Viziteu emphasized that these shelters are designed to provide actual protection rather than just being basement rooms.

Rehabilitation efforts will continue with three additional shelters on Prieteniei and Slănicului streets, which have a combined capacity for approximately 200 people. Residents are encouraged to identify nearby shelters, which are marked by a blue triangle within an orange square.
