Ligue 1: Monaco and Lille draw 1-1 in top-table clash
AS Monaco and Lille OSC played to a 1-1 draw in their eighth-round Ligue 1 encounter at Stade Louis II. Ethan Mbappé opened the scoring for Lille in the 24th minute following a clinical finish after a defensive lapse.
The match shifted in the 66th minute when Lille defender Tanguy Nianzou received a direct red card for a heavy challenge. Playing with ten men, Lille eventually conceded an equalizer in the 74th minute through Edan Diop, who converted a cross from the left.
The result leaves both teams tied at the top of the standings with 15 points each, though Monaco holds a slight advantage in goal difference. The draw prevents either side from taking sole possession of the lead ahead of upcoming fixtures involving PSG and Lyon.
