Bad Hersfeld Festspiele Announces Departures of Commercial Director and Technical Lead

The Bad Hersfeld Festspiele will see two senior staff members leave at the end of the year. Bernd Hämmelmann, the festival's commercial director and head of the city’s cultural, tourism and city‑marketing department, will exit the municipal administration by year‑end. He confirmed that his employment relationship remains active until then.

Technical director Dietmar Wolf, who has overseen the festival’s productions since 2016, will also step down after the current season. City spokesperson Laura Hellwig said the two resignations are unrelated and stem from independent decisions, noting there is no evidence of internal conflict. The festival has experienced several leadership changes in recent years, but officials stress that the upcoming transitions will be managed orderly.

The departures come as the festival prepares its next program, with Intendant Elke Hesse overseeing the artistic direction.
