Bad Kissingen begins district heating network installation
Stadtwerke Bad Kissingen has commenced the installation of heat pipes at Rathausplatz to establish a district heating network for several municipal buildings. The project aims to provide a sustainable heat supply for the New Town Hall, the finance administration, the city hall, the Feserhaus, the Reichenbacher Hof, the city library, and the property at Maxstraße 18.
Mayor Dirk Vogel stated that the initiative serves as a concrete measure for climate protection and demonstrates the innovation of the local utilities. The modernization of these historic, protected buildings will utilize a combination of air-to-water heat pumps and natural gas peak boilers to increase the share of renewable heat without requiring additional insulation.
Following the completion of the pipework, heat supply installations in the buildings are scheduled for 2027. The network is expected to be operational by autumn 2027, with the Stadtwerke operating the system under a long-term heat contracting model.
