Bad Kissingen launches new 'Plätzle' recreation hub

Bad Kissingen inaugurated the new "Plätzle" leisure complex on the Westring near the Garitzer roundabout. The modern site offers a pumptrack, multi‑purpose sports field, climbing and calisthenics areas, basketball hoops, table‑tennis, a barrier‑free carousel and additional play equipment. The project cost about €650,000, funded mainly by the city with €250,000 from the EU LEADER programme and the Bavarian state. Mayor Dr. Dirk Vogel praised the venue as a generational meeting point, and Landrat Mario Götz highlighted the role of citizen participation in its design. Pumptrack professional Julian Steiner demonstrated tricks and ran a workshop for youths.

The city library remained open throughout the summer holidays, extending loan periods to four weeks for all media. It offered a range of books, audiobooks, games and digital resources via the e‑medien‑franken portal and the Libby app. Two open reading circle sessions with Marlies Fichte were scheduled for 11 and 13 August, discussing Robert Seethaler's novel "Die Straße". A weekly children's story hour began on 6 August, featuring picture‑book readings by Ginetta.
