Bad Kreuznach to close historic Bäderhaus wellness facility

The historic Bäderhaus wellness and sauna facility in Bad Kreuznach is scheduled to cease operations by June 30, 2027. The decision was reached by the city council, with 28 votes in favor and eight against, following recommendations to address annual losses exceeding one million euros.

To maintain the sauna landscape, an estimated 2.5 million euros in investment would have been required. The city intends to prioritize the preservation of the Salinental indoor and outdoor pools and the modernization of the Crucenia Therme instead.

The 115-year-old landmark, originally built in 1911, will be put up for sale. Rather than a standard sale, the city is implementing a concept-based market exploration process. This approach ensures that potential investors are evaluated not just on their purchase price, but on a development concept that aligns with the city's urban planning and structural goals for the spa district.
