Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler: Son suspected in parents' deaths

A 26-year-old man is the primary suspect in the deaths of his parents in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate. The victims, a 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, were found dead in their apartment on the morning of August 19.

According to the Koblenz Public Prosecutor's Office, both victims died from massive blood loss resulting from numerous stab and cut wounds. The suspect had called emergency services around 4:00 AM, reporting that his mother had been stabbed and his father was merely sleeping. However, investigators noted that his account of the events does not match the physical evidence found at the scene.

The suspect, who also sustained stab wounds to his abdomen, was taken to a hospital and subsequently arrested. A judge at the Koblenz District Court has issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of double manslaughter. During his hearing, the suspect exercised his right to remain silent. Investigations into the exact sequence of events are ongoing.
