Bad Windsheim postpones elections amid wind farm grid disputes

In Bad Windsheim, the city council's holiday committee has unanimously approved an urgent motion to postpone upcoming local spokesperson elections in the districts of Berolzheim and Wiebelsheim. The delay, proposed by the Liste Land group, is intended to allow for a revision of the current statutes.

Separately, the association Gegenwind Freigericht e. V. has raised technical concerns regarding the proposed Sülzert wind farm project. The group criticized claims by project developers that they can bypass building a dedicated substation to save approximately 6.5 million euros. The association argues that a wind farm of this scale, potentially producing up to 56 megawatts, cannot be integrated into the existing medium-voltage grid without risking stability or facing frequent power curtailment due to the high capacity utilization of the local network.
