Badajoz allocates 700,000 euros for municipal accessibility
The Diputación de Badajoz has released the regulatory bases for the 2026 Provincial Accessibility Plan, allocating approximately 700,000 euros to improve accessibility in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and other minor local entities.
The funds, totaling 698,160 euros, will be distributed based on population size. Municipalities with up to 999 residents can receive 3,720 euros, while those with populations between 10,000 and 19,999 can receive up to 6,000 euros. The grants are intended for installing accessible equipment in swimming pools, playgrounds, restrooms, and public centers to ensure equal access to cultural, sporting, and administrative activities.
Additionally, the plan aims to create safer and more comprehensible environments, specifically targeting the elderly and individuals with disabilities or cognitive accessibility needs. This initiative brings the total cumulative investment in accessibility by the institution to over 4.7 million euros across five editions.
