Badajoz confirms two outbreaks of bovine brucellosis
Two outbreaks of bovine brucellosis caused by Brucella abortus have been confirmed in the province of Badajoz, Spain. The first outbreak, classified as primary, was identified on August 5 in Alburquerque. A second, secondary outbreak was confirmed two days later in a location bordering Alburquerque.
Authorities report that two animals were affected in the first site, with a total of 467 sensitive animals identified across both locations. The Junta de Extremadura has stated that the situation is under control and that strict sanitary protocols are being implemented. Veterinary officials are currently conducting intensive surveillance within a ten-kilometer radius of the affected farms, with initial tests in the surrounding area returning negative results.
