Badajoz Council Moves Forward on Gévora Municipal Pool with Design Contract

The Badajoz City Council has signed a contract to draft the design for a new municipal pool in the Gévora district, a project long promised by local officials. Mayor Ignacio Gragera announced the agreement on social media, noting that tendering for construction could begin within months.

The pool will be built on an 8,926 m² site situated between railway tracks and a football field, with 6,200 m² dedicated to the swimming facilities. The investment exceeds €1.8 million. The main pool will measure 30.5 m by 13 m with depths from 1.2 m to 2.2 m, covering 402 m². A secondary shallow pool for children under five will be circular, 8 m in diameter and 0.5 m deep, complemented by a compensation tank. Around the pools, 4,400 m² of gardens, terraces, a café, and other recreational areas will be created.

The complex is intended to serve approximately 5,000 residents from Gévora and nearby villages such as Sagrajas, Novelda del Guadiana, Alcazaba, and Valdebóto, providing the first municipal swimming facility in the area.
