Badajoz court orders Cabezas and Álvarez to pay damages to former press chief

A court in Badajoz has ordered former councilman Ricardo Cabezas and Hernán Álvarez, a spokesperson for the Acho Badajoz collective, to pay 7,500 euros each to Javier Gragera, the former press chief for the mayor of Badajoz.

The ruling follows allegations that Cabezas and Álvarez spread false information claiming Gragera used a municipal mobile phone to manage a specific social media profile. The judge determined these claims violated Gragera's privacy and honor. In addition to the financial penalty, the defendants must publish the sentence on their social media profiles and in local media outlets, and remove all references to the alleged use of a corporate phone.

In a related matter, the judge partially upheld a countersuit by Álvarez, ordering Gragera to pay Álvarez 3,000 euros for infringing upon his right to his own image. The sentence is subject to appeal before the Provincial Court of Badajoz.
