Badajoz International Theater Festival presents ‘El funeral’

The 49th Badajoz International Theater Festival continues with the performance of ‘El funeral’, a play written and directed by Joaquín Murillo. Produced by the companies Teatro de las esquinas and Teatro y Moche, the production was previously recognized with a Max Award for Best Breakthrough Show.

The performance features a group of Gypsy musicians who gather to bid farewell to Grandfather Dimitri. Described as a fusion of theater and music, the show uses humor, unexpected situations, and musical virtuosity to transform a funeral ceremony into a collective celebration of life. Musical direction is provided by Teresa Polyvka, featuring violin, saxophone, guitars, and other instrumental performances.
