Badajoz proposes Al-Senera for Alcazaba barbican repairs

The Badajoz City Council's Contracting Board has proposed Al-Senera Obras y Servicios S. L. U. to execute repair works on the barbican located next to the Torre de Espantaperros. The contract, valued at 151,250 euros including VAT, aims to address imminent ruin within the Alcazaba of Badajoz.

The project follows a collapse that occurred on August 27, 2025, affecting a section of the defensive structure between the Torre de Espantaperros and the UNED building. While the brick facing of the barbican was damaged, the Almohad tapial structure and the wall walkway remained intact.

Currently, a safety and health study is being processed. Once completed, the worksite will officially open, allowing the intervention to begin.
