Badajoz theater festival concludes amid budget concerns

The long-running theater and dance festival at the Teatro López de Ayala has concluded its two-week program, which featured twelve shows and a children's proposal. While the artistic quality of the performances was noted for its relevance and award-winning content, the edition was marked by a significantly limited budget.

Despite the festival's historical importance—dating back to 1972—critics have pointed to the insufficient resources provided by its sponsors, the City Council and the Junta de Extremadura. The current lack of funding is noted as particularly unexpected given the shared political alignment between the sponsoring institutions. Additionally, the absence of the regional Minister of Culture and the Mayor from the festival's activities has been highlighted as a sign of waning institutional support.
