Badalona opens recruitment for 67 new Urban Guard officers

The Badalona City Council has announced a new recruitment drive to add 67 officers to its Urban Guard. Interested candidates must apply online via the Badalona Convoca portal by 9 July. Selection will be conducted through a free‑opposition exam, with a 40 % quota reserved for women, and will proceed in three stages: exam, training (selective course) and a practicum before permanent placement.

The municipality says this recruitment will bring the total number of new officers hired during the current term to 157. To date, 90 new agents have been incorporated—23 in 2023, 43 in 2024, and 24 currently training at the Catalonia Public Security Institute. Mayor Xavier Garcia Albiol highlighted that crime rates have been falling, but the city will continue to strengthen public safety. He also noted that the increase in personnel will be complemented by the installation of 650 surveillance cameras across Badalona to further reduce delinquency and protect residents.
