Badara bridge in Bama officially reopens to traffic

The Badara bridge in the Bama commune of Houet province has officially reopened to traffic following its reconstruction. The infrastructure, located on the RN09 highway, was severely damaged by heavy flooding in July 2024, which caused significant damage to local fields and displaced approximately 517 people.

Inaugurated on August 18, 2026, by Minister of Construction Mikaïlou Sidibé and Government Secretary General Ousmane Ouattara, the project was fully funded by the Burkinabè state at a cost of 1.032 billion CFA francs. The new structure measures 63 meters long and 10 meters wide, featuring 14 culverts that are each 4 meters wide and 5 meters high.

The reconstruction was carried out over eight months following instructions from President Ibrahim Traoré to complete the work before the next rainy season. The bridge is considered a strategic link for the region, serving local agricultural areas and providing a vital connection to neighboring Mali.
